What is it?

Vic Election Alerts is a personal text message/email reminder service. We will be collecting your name, your email address and/or mobile phone number.

In registering for this service, you are also agreeing to have us (or our agent) contact you in the future for feedback on the service. We want your suggestions for any improvements!

What will I receive and how often?

If you sign up to Vic Election Alerts you will receive text messages or emails about the:

  • 2017 Northcote District by-election.

You will receive up to five messages during the election period about enrolment and voting reminders.

Can I choose how I receive alerts?

Yes, you can choose to receive:

  • text messages only
  • emails only
  • both text messages and emails.

Does it cost anything?

No, the Vic Election Alerts service is free.

Can I opt out?

Yes, you can opt out of the service at any time by:

  • replying ‘Stop’ to the text you receive from the VEC
  • using the ‘Unsubscribe’ link on the email reminders.

Can I change my details?

Yes, all you need to do is unsubscribe and then enter your new details.

Please note

  • The Vic Election Alerts service is intended as a reminder service only. On rare occasions, SMS/email messages may be delayed or not received. Non-receipt or delayed receipt of a reminder does not constitute a valid excuse for failing to vote.
  • Your details won’t be shared with anyone else, unless required by law, in line with the VEC’s privacy policy and the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (external link).
